The quality descriptor corresponds with subjectively-sensed quality of the encoded signals. In addition, the subjectively-sensed quality in the quality descriptor, is represented by corresponding measured values. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is included for corresponding equipment. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# To improve the transmission quality of encoded audio-video signals. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# Using this method, the consumer obtains an assessment concerning the quality of the encoded audio and video signals. This permits the transmission to be matched optimally with the technical parameters of the network and the terminal unit (video display, mobile telephone etc.).
