<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a belt type continuous transmission mechanism by estimating the state of the belt and pulley of the belt type continuous transmission mechanism from the speed change ratio in a constant-speed travel, i.e., the relation between an engine rotating speed and a vehicle speed and setting an optimum engine rotating speed at which the belt type continuous transmission mechanism is neither overloaded at a start nor sliding down at a start on a slope. SOLUTION: An automatically travelable vehicle having a driving mechanism by the belt type continuous transmission mechanism is provided with a means which detects the rotating speed of the engine E and the rotating speed of a wheel, computes the speed change ratio from the both, and stores it, a means which varies the rotating speed of the engine E, a means which detects the tilt angle of the vehicle to a ground surface, and a brake mechanism which can gradually be reset at a start on a slope; and the engine rotating speed is corrected and set at the next start on a slope according to the information which is stored as to the belt type continuous transmission mechanism according to the engine rotating speed and speed change ratio during the normal constant- speed travel.</p> |
