<p>ACDMAmobile communication system is disclosed in which a desired soft handoff operation is carried out by inhibiting signaling message transmission when a radio receiving condition at a receiving station is deteriorated. The system includes a plurality of mobile stations; a plurality of base stations, each including a transmitter for transmitting a common traffic channel to which each of the plurality of mobile stations can refer; and higher rank equipment for controlling and managing the plurality of base stations, including a table for managing the busy-idle state of each traffic channel in said plurality of base stations and a transmitter for transmitting information in said table to the plurality of mobile stations through the common traffic channel, wherein each of the plurality of mobile stations reports to said base station currently communicating at the time of soft handoff, information having, the received power of a pilot channel from the base station currently communicating, as well as the received power of a pilot channel from a target base station of soft handoff, and a short code of an idle traffic channel randomly selected using busy-idle information on traffic channels of said target base station obtained from the table information received through said common traffic channel of the target base station.</p> |
