The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1062714/C2/1> wherein R1 is an alkyl radical containing up to 12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl radical containing 3 or 4 carbon atoms, a cyclopropylmethyl radical or a phenylalkyl radical containing 7-9 carbon atoms, R2 is hydrogen or methyl or is linked with R3 to give a polymethylene chain containing 3-6 carbon atoms, R3 is an alkyl radical containing up to 4 carbon atoms or is linked to R2 as described above, R4 is hydrogen or methyl and R5 is an alkyl radical having up to 4 carbon atoms preferably 1 or 2 carbon atoms, acid addition salts thereof, and the preparation thereof by reaction of a compound of the general formula <FORM:1062714/C2/2> with a low alkanoic acid or a reactive derivative thereof or with a corresponding ketene at below 60 DEG C. Therapeutic compositions in conventional forms for oral or parenteral administration, having analgetic and antitussive activity, comprise a compound of the first general formula above, or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable diluent.
