A method of knitting a knitting fabric capable of making visually attractive the knitting fabric with easy-to- move fourchettes, wherein at least two tubular knitting fabrics are knitted, knitted tubular fabrics are overlapped and joined to each other so that the number of wales in the jointed area of a front knitted fabric part is different from that in the joined area of a rear knitted fabric part. Before joining is started, on opposed beds, the joined area of the front knitted fabric part and the joined area of the rear knitted fabric area are fixed to knitting needles so that both end parts of each of the joined areas are opposed to each other in an area where the number of the knitting needles to which loops in the joined area with a large fourchette is fixed is equal to the number of the knitting needles to which loops in the joined area with a small fourchette in the state of the needles extracted from the loops of one fourchette in the joined area and in the state of the needles inserted into the loops of the other fourchette in the joined area. Then, the fourchettes are formed at jointed portions by welt-stitching and the overlapping of the loops. |
