A network connection management method for determining if, when an abnormality occurs in the connection to of an electronic apparatus having a network function a network, the abnormality is in this apparatus or in an external apparatus other than this apparatus. An access controller (12) which detects if a LAN cable (22) is connected is provided in an electronic apparatus (10). Before a microcomputer (13) provided in the electronic apparatus executes an application, the microcomputer (13) checks the detection output from the access controller to check if there is any network connection abnormality in the LAN cable or in this apparatus. If the result of this checking shows that there is no abnormality, the application is executed. When this application uses a network, the access controller is used to check if the link to the network is normal. If the result of this checking shows that the link is normal, the application makes an access to the network.
