A basin (5) is used with an upper first compartment (12) containing water for plants and a lower second compartment (6a, 6b) is used to store thermal energy. The second compartment is located underneath the first compartment and separated from it by a horizontal partition wall (15). The second compartment has a fixed volume and is filled with a liquid, preferably water.
