The device has an optical module (20) with variable optical path and arranged in a main path (2). Photodiodes (14) are arranged in output of the main path and a reference path (12) and detect a main pulse and a reference pulse. A phase detector (15) is arranged in output of the photodiodes and allows to control the path of an optical module based on the phase difference between the main and reference pulses. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a laser chain including an optical path length controlling device (B) a method for managing the light transmission of a laser chain.
