PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a current line sensor wherein the line sensor for obtaining medium end (width) information of an image forming medium must be arranged at a position separated from the medium to prevent the generation of jam due to a contact with the medium to be carried and, as a result, it is necessary to use a relatively expensive line sensor having deep depth of field. SOLUTION: In order to use a line sensor having shallow depth of field, this medium position detecting mechanism for an image forming device is structured to warp the medium to be carried into a loop shape, and structured to always make the medium abut on a sensor surface of the line sensor when obtaining the medium position attitude information.
