PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost mechanical lock device easily adjusting the heights and angles of a backrest and a footrest of a wheelchair and firmly fixing them at arbitrary positions. SOLUTION: A groove 12 is provided in the outer circumferential face of a rod 11, a locking part 14 is provided in an external tube member 13 externally fit around the rod 11, and a part or the whole part of the locking part 14 is engaged with the groove 12 to be fixed at the arbitrary position. The locking part 14 of the external tube member 13 is engaged with the groove 12 provided in the outer circumferential face of the rod 11 so that the locking part 14 can be firmly fixed without its sliding on the rod 11.
