<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium which has high storage reliability under high temperature and high humidity, a stable high-temperature operation, good mechanical characteristics, and high productivity, and allows high-speed and high-density optical recording to be performed. <P>SOLUTION: This optical recording medium has at least a lower protective layer, an optical recording layer, an upper protective layer, an intermediate layer, and an optical reflective layer which contains Ag 95 atom% or more on a substrate. The intermediate layer includes at least a carbide of an element selected from Ti, Nb, and Ta, or includes at least an element (M) selected from Ti, Nb, and Ta, and carbon (C) and oxygen (O). The medium is constituted so as to be recoded even when the recording period of time of a minimum recording mark is at least 34 ns or less, even when the recording period of time of a channel bit length is at least 11 ns or less, or even when the recording linear velocity is at least 11 m/s or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
