PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder block having high heat conductivity, high rigidity, and low expansibility while securing slidability around bores and enabling a reduction in weight and size and an increase in output. SOLUTION: This cylinder block of an internal combustion engine having pistons is formed by fitting cylinder liners 2 into the bores 2a. The cylinder liner 2 comprises a metal based composite member formed by filling a metal into spherical cells of the ceramic molded bodies of a three-dimensional net structure formed of the plurality of spherical cells and communication holes communicating the plurality of adjacent spherical cells with each other.
