PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain intermediate tone display in a sharp screen by diffusing a color component that does not have emission colors. SOLUTION: The image display device comprises (1) a display part 1, constituted to arrange a display element of RGB in a prescribed pattern; (2) an error diffusion means 22 for performing error diffusion dividing the RGB components of nonmatching pixel data to a prescribed display element adjacent to the display element, on the basis of matching or nonmatching with color capable of display by the display element and the RGB component of corresponding pixel data; and (3) a display control means 24 for performing display control of the display element, without performing substitution in pixels in which an edge is not detected, while substituting the pixels detected to be the edge with the pixel data performing error diffusion, by performing edge detection by comparing the luminance of the pixel data in the pixel data of the images displayed in the display part 1.
