PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical isolator and its manufacturing method which bring uniform quality, an improved yield and superior mass-productivity and which are designed to efficiently apply magnetic energy to a Faraday rotor by making segmentation into a separate optical isolator possible from an integrated state of an optical isolator element lamination, a permanent magnet compact, and a magnetic yoke material. SOLUTION: A permanent magnet compact is fixed on the laminated face of the optical isolator element lamination which is formed by integrally laminating one or more Faraday rotors and two or more polarizers. In addition, the magnetic yoke material is fixed on the N-pole end face of the permanent magnet compact. Then, the optical isolator element lamination and the permanent magnet compact are cut all together with the magnetic yoke material to form the optical isolator. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
