<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out different processing actions in accordance with a position and an attitude of a portable information terminal when it is mounted on a cradle device. <P>SOLUTION: In the portable information terminal 10 which can be selectively mounted on mounting parts 22 or 23 of the cradle device 20 having a plurality of mounting parts 22 and 23, the mounting part 22 or 23 holding the portable information terminal 10 from the plurality of mounting parts 22 and 23 is detected by on/off states of a switch 19.
