<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a timbre-changing device for changing the timbre of a keyboard instrument and a piano equipped with the timbre-changing device. <P>SOLUTION: The timbre-changing device 111 is used for the keyboard instrument equipped with a plurality of keyboards 41, strings 33 of a plurality of pitches juxtaposed in correspondence to each keyboard, and hammers 64 for striking the strings corresponding to the operated keyboards, and is used for changing the timbres produced by the keyboard instrument at the string-striking. The timbre-changing device has elastic members 115 for absorbing the vibrations of the strings, by abutting against all the strings of the pitches to be changed in the timbres at least before and after the string-striking.
