<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston type compressor equipped with an improved control characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: The piston type compressor has several parallel cylinder-piston units 7 and 8, and the piston 8 is operated by a swing plate 11 coupled by a coupling bracket 11. In order to change the inclination of the swing plate, the swing plate is held in a recess 29 in a drive shaft 4 in such a way as rotatable by two rotary brackets 23.
