<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively control the flow of exhaust gas without deteriorating combustion in a cylinder when a cylinder injection internal combustion engine is operated in a compression stroke injection mode. <P>SOLUTION: When the flow of the exhaust gas is limited by an exhaust gas flow control valve 40 in the compression stroke injection mode, the electronic control unit 60 of the cylinder injection internal combustion engine 1 advances the opening/closing timings of an intake valve 7 by a variable valve timing mechanism 51 to close the intake valve 7 before a fuel is injected from a fuel injection valve 6 into the cylinder. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
