PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress unneeded power consumption and the occurrence of dew formation and mold by excessive humidification even if a user may be absent after in-timer operation. SOLUTION: This control unit comprises a humidifying means 6 for humidifying indoor air; a temperature detection means 1 for detecting the temperature of indoor air; a timer means 2 for automatically stopping operation after a prescribed amount of time from the automatic operation start; an operation control means 4 for controlling the operation of a humidifier, based on an input signal from the temperature detection means 1 and the timer means; and an amount-of-humidification control means 5 for switching the amount of humidification by the humidifying means 6 to at least "strong" and "weak". When the timer means 2 starts automatic operation, the operation control means 4 sets the amount of humidification to "weak" for controlling so that humidification operation can be made. Then, when room temperature detected by the temperature detecting means 1 increases by prescribed temperature or a manual operating means 3 is operated, control is switched to normal operation for enabling humidification operation in which the amount of humidification becomes "strong".
