<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high brightness of an illumination device which uses a point light source and a light guide plate. <P>SOLUTION: The illumination device comprises a light guide plate 2 and point light sources 1 arranged at the incident face side of the light guide plate, and fine scattering structures 20 separated from each other are formed on almost whole surfaces of a light-emitting surface and the surface at an opposite side. The fine scattering structure 20 has a directivity of a longitudinal direction in its shape, and the longitudinal direction is almost parallel with the direction connecting the fine scattering structure and the point light source. Further, the surface at the opposite side of the light-emitting surface of the light guide plate is divided into a plurality of areas 9, 10, 11, and a thickness of the light guide plate at each area becomes thinner as it becomes distant from the light source. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
