<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device of an outboard motor which steering device improves the operational efficiency of electric motors, which is a driving source for a hydraulic pump supplying hydraulic oil to a hydraulic actuator for steering, and reduces consumption power. <P>SOLUTION: The steering device has two electric motors (72, 74) which is the driving source for the hydraulic pump (70) that supplies the hydraulic oil to the hydraulic actuator (26) for steering. The steering device detects a steering load of the outboard motor, and, based on the detected steering load, determines the number of the electric motors (72, 74) driving the hydraulic pump (70) and controls the drive of the electric motors (72, 74), that is, increases and decreases the number of the electric motors (72, 74) to be driven according to the detected steering load. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
