PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can improve the printing precision by preventing a positional shift between a printing head and a platen roller. SOLUTION: An arm member 5 is formed of aluminum with a first coefficient of linear expansionα1. A chassis 1 is formed of a mild steel with a second coefficient of linear expansionα2. A bearing member 2 is formed of a POM resin with a third coefficient of linear expansionα3. In the case where a first horizontal distance of the arm member 5 between a first position (mounting position of the arm member 5 to the chassis) and a second position (opposed position between the printing head 4 mounted at the arm member 5 and the platen roller 6) is made D1, a second horizontal distance of the chassis 1 between the first position and a third position (mounting position of the bearing member 2 to the chassis) is made D2, and a third horizontal distance of the bearing member 2 between the second position and the third position is made D3, the third position is set to satisfy the formula:α1D1=α2D2+α3D3.
