PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat belt joint machining method eliminating missing of rubber at the end of a joint even in a flat belt composed of a soft rubber/elastomeric material, a relatively brittle rubber/elastomeric material, or the like. SOLUTION: In a method of skiving a joint part of the flat belt 13 with a rotating polishing roller 10, first polishing on a first polishing locus line 14 with the polishing roller 10 is applied to the joint part of the flat belt 13 stuck to the tip of a table 12 with a predetermined inclination angle, to remove a part of the joint part. The polishing roller 10 or the table 12 is then moved up or down by a predetermined distance for alignment, and second polishing with the polishing roller 10 is applied to the joint part of the flat belt 13 finished with the first polishing, to remove a part of the remaining joint part.
