PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet-like body positioning/conveyance mechanism in which torque of a stepping motor is relatively small when the stepping motor is used as a driving source for truing up and positioning a sheet-like body conveyed, such as a film, and which can accurately position sheet-like bodies even when the sheet-like bodies are uneven in dimension, and to provide an image recording apparatus. SOLUTION: The sheet-like body positioning/conveyance mechanism has a conveying means to convey a sheet-like body F and a correcting means to correct the position of the conveyed sheet-like body in a direction (w) perpendicular to the conveyance direction H and to position the sheet-like body, wherein the correcting means has a pair of side edge truing-up members 1, 2 which performs normal and reverse movement in a direction nearly perpendicular to the conveyance direction and are engaged with the sheet-like body to true up the side edge of the sheet-like body, and a stepping motor for driving the side edge truing-up members configured such that the stepping motor steps out when a load value produced at the time of positioning the sheet-like body by the side edge truing-up members exceeds a predetermined threshold value (th).
