A method for producing a polyurethane prepolymer having terminal isocyanate groups is provided wherein one or more polyisocyanates are reacted with one or more polyols and wherein at least one asymmetric diisocyanate, at least one polyol having an average molecular weight (M_n) of 60 to 3000 g/mol, and at least one carboxamide catalyst are used. The ratio of isocyanate groups to hydroxyl groups is set in the range between 1.1:1 to 4:1.
