Disclosed is a multilayer electronic component comprising a multilayer body including an effective layer wherein at least one dielectric body and a plurality of internal electrodes composed of first and second internal electrodes are alternately arranged in layers and protective layers arranged on both ends of the effective layer in the layer-stacking direction, and external electrodes respectively formed on two lateral surfaces of the multilayer body. One of the external electrodes is connected to the first internal electrodes, while the other is connected to the second internal electrodes. The effective layer has an active portion wherein adjacent first internal electrode and second internal electrode are opposite to each other and an inactive portion located outside the active portion in which inactive portion two first internal electrodes or two second internal electrodes are opposite to each other. For the purpose of making the boundary between a displacement portion and a non-displacement portion clear, the color of the active portion is made different from the color of the inactive portion.
