PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material excellent in oxidation resistance. SOLUTION: This oxidation-resistant composite material is provided with a base 4, a dense glass layer 8 formed on the surface layer side of the base 4 and capable of suppressing diffusion of corrosive species, and a porous glass layer 10 constituting at least a part of the surface of the dense glass layer 8. This composite material 2 suppresses corrosive species from invading into the base side from outside by means of the dense glass layer 8. Also it possesses capability of effectively buffering thermal shock due to abrupt temperature change because it has the porous glass layer 10, thereby thermal shock to the dense glass layer 8 is alleviated.
