PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carton for storing a rod-like item provided with a buffer function for easing up a shock from back, front, right, left, top and bottom. SOLUTION: This carton with a buffer function is structured by storing a inner case 1 assembled using one blank in a parallelepiped outer box 2. The inner case comprises four side walls, i.e. a front side wall 12, a back side wall 13, a right side wall 14, and a left side wall 15 comprising at least two side panels comprising an inside panel and an outside panel standing up from the four sides of a rectangular bottom panel 11. At least one side wall is formed in a condition where three or more side panels are superimposed inward in a bellows condition. The front side wall and the back side wall are formed with a pair of parallel cut lines reaching the bottom panel crossing the inside panel. A holding part is formed by raising the area between the lines. Both sides of the innermost inside panel superimposed in a bellows condition are formed with an insertion piece, and an insertion opening is formed at the predetermined position of the inside panel of the back side wall and the front side wall.
