MONOFILAMENT, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND TOOTHBRUSH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester monofilament having excellent flexibility and transparency and further cleaning and durability of use as compared with those of conventional toothbrushes and to provide a toothbrush composed of the monofilament. SOLUTION: The polyester monofilament comprises mainly polytrimethylene terephthalate mixed with polybutylene terephthalate and satisfies (a) to (d). (a) the polytrimethylene terephthalate is mixed with the polybutylene terephthalate in (70/30) to (45/55) weight ratio and the intrinsic viscosity of the monofilament is 0.7-1.3 del/g, (b) 0-0.1 wt.% content of inorganic fine particles, (c) 50-65°C crystallization peak temperature and 200-230°C melting peak temperature measured with a differential scanning calorimeter after melting at 260°C in a nitrogen atmosphere for 1 min and amorphizing by quenching to 30°C at≥50°C/s cooling rate and (d) 1-5% shrinkage percentage in boiling water.
