<p>A friction clamp for applying to horizontal and vertical smooth tubular sections, e.g. for building exhibition stands, comprises two plastic interlocking components which are secured by a simple twist and lock action. One component (3) has a sliding fit on the smooth tube (6) and is split (4) to clamp onto the pipe. The body of the component has a straight section (2) terminated by a radial flange a with a tapering conical section (7) at the other end. The other component has a cylindrical outer sleeve with a cylindrical inner profile (10) leading to a female conical inner profile (9). The straight/cylindrical profiles of the two components are provided with interlocking grips to lock the two conical profiles together and to clamp onto the tube. The fitting can carry vertical loads up to 50 Kg.</p> |
