<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a spring load characteristic without increasing the volume of an elastic body. <P>SOLUTION: At a stroke end of a rack shaft 1, a stroke damper 10 for relaxing impact is interposed between an end surface at a ball joint 4 (rack end 3) side and an end surface at a rack housing 2 side. In the stroke damper 10, the elastic body 12 is adhered to a side surface of an outer peripheral part of an annular member 11 made of metal. The elastic body 12 has a taper shape part 12t continuously standing up from an inner diameter side end edge in a taper-like shape.
