PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vehicular rotary electric machine capable of making compatible starting torque characteristics and torque characteristics in a voltage saturation area. SOLUTION: A vehicular generator motor 5 is driven by a battery 1 via an inverter 3. When the maximum value of a voltage which can be impressed between terminals of a connection terminal 6d from the inverter 3 is set as the maximum voltage Vmax and a current which should be supplied to the connection terminal 6d from the inverter 3 in order to maximize torque with a power factor of 1 and during voltage saturation is set as a maximum current Iamax under the condition of impressing the maximum voltage Vmax, an armature winding 6b is formed so that a resistor 2Ra between the connection terminals 6d satisfies a formula 0.8Ra0≤2Ra≤3.8Ra0 with respect to a formula expressed by 2Ra0=Vmax/(√3) Iamax.
