PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake sensor capable of detecting surely a lateral vibration (P-wave) and a vertical vibration (S-wave) caused by an earthquake. SOLUTION: This earthquake sensor includes a first suspended rod 3 suspended by a support means 2; a pendulum 4 for the lateral vibration fitted to the first suspended rod 3; a first contactor 10 arranged separately at a distance X from the pendulum 4 for the lateral vibration so as to enclose the pendulum 4 for the lateral vibration and contactable by the pendulum 4 for the lateral vibration when the pendulum 4 for the lateral vibration is swung; a pendulum 7 for the vertical vibration provided movably vertically to the first suspended rod 3 and positioned on a prescribed fixed position at the non-vibration time; a second contactor 8 fixed to a first suspended rod separately at a distance H from the pendulum 7 for the vertical vibration on the fixed position; and a detection means for detecting the lateral vibration caused by contact of the pendulum 4 for the lateral vibration with the first contactor 10, and detecting the vertical vibration caused by contact of the pendulum 7 for the vertical vibration with the second contactor 8.
