PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air treatment device provided with a relatively large capacity while maintaining a relatively small floor area and a relatively small noise. SOLUTION: This air treatment device has a relatively large capacity, however, it has the small floor area and the low noise. The device has a housing 12 for forming a suction chamber 30 vertically extending and a blowing out chamber 32. A fan 18 is arranged in the suction chamber 30 and circulates air in the air treatment device. Approximately flat filters 22, 24 are arranged in the blowing out chamber 32 while spaced from a rear wall 50 to form a plenum chamber 180. The rear wall 50 of the housing 12 is made to a curved surface and is made to a shape that a constant air pressure is applied to a filter surface. The air treatment device is installed on a floor or is vertically or horizontally installed on a wall surface. Further, the air treatment device has a control mechanism which is operated at full speed for a predetermined time and thereafter is automatically returned to a former operation speed.
