PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a device for removing suspended matter (scum) on a liquid surface, especially a suspended matter removal device installed in floatation equipment etc. performing oil-water separation to smoothly discharge floating scum (a) on the liquid surface of a separation tank 1. SOLUTION: A suspended matter removal device is a device for removing the scum (a) on the liquid surface of the separation tank 1. A scraping plate 15 is installed at the discharge port 12a of the separation tank 1. When a scum rake 10 rotates from a state shown in Figure (a), the scraping plate 15 swings to the discharge port 12 side according to the rotation to scrape scum b between the scraping plate 15 and the scum rake 10 toward the discharge port side (Fig. (b)-(e)). When the tip end of the scraping plate 15 is brought into contact with the inner wall of the separation tank 1 (Fig. (f)), the scum rake 10 passes through the inside of the scraping plate 15 (Fig. (f)-(h)), and finally passes the discharge port to return to the state of the initial Fig. (a). After this, the same action is repeated, and raking of the scum b by the scum rake 10 and scraping of the scum b by the scraping plate 15 are performed to smoothly remove the scum b on the liquid surface of the separation tank 1.
