<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file recognition device and method for recognizing specific information types with respect to a web page file group collected from the Internet or stored in other storage devices. <P>SOLUTION: The file recognition device is provided with: a file grouping section for classifying a file group being an object of recognition based on file types, from a prescribed viewpoint; a file type recognition section for recognizing file types in accordance with features specific to specific information types; and a file type recognition correction section for correcting respective recognition results of files in consideration of accuracy of recognition of all files in the group.
