PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently charge a battery and also to prevent a voltage ripple caused by battery charge. SOLUTION: A cathode of a thyristor 14 of a regulator 11 is connected to the alternator side of a power line L via a primary coil of a transformer 16. An anode of the thyristor 14 is grounded and a gate is connected to a voltage monitoring circuit 15. The voltage monitoring circuit 15 is connected to the power line L which supplies power from an alternator to an EFI system 13. The voltage of the power line L is monitored by the voltage monitoring circuit 15, and when the voltage is higher than a specified value, this power unit switches on the thyristor 14. This supplies a battery 12 with power generated in a secondary coil of the transformer, 16 thereby charging the battery. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
