PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide for example, a probe with comparatively long lifetime of operation, a recording device, a reproducing device, and a recording and reproducing device using this probe. SOLUTION: The probe (100) is provided with; a substrate (110) having a surface facing a medium (20); and a point electrode (120) which is formed in the substrate and for performing at least either sensing or changing a status of micro area in the medium. A head end which is an edge of a side of the point electrode facing the medium is arranged inside a plane in which a surface of the substrate is formed at the periphery of an area section in which the point electrode is formed.
