PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound having high polymerization activity, therefore giving better yield in combining other cocatalyst. SOLUTION: The compound contains vanadium in +III or +IV oxidation state and one or more species of amide groups. A method for producing the compound, how to use the compound of the invention for preparing a catalyst composition, a method for preparing the catalyst composition and a method for producing a homopolymer and/or a copolymer using the catalyst composition are provided.
