PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a whisker formed body having a fine whisker with a diameter and a length of≤1/10 compared with a conventional product and a desired size, the whisker, and a method of easily manufacturing the whisker formed body by fewer processes. SOLUTION: On the surface of a raw material substrate containing a metal, an alloy, a ceramic, and the like, a whisker containing an oxide of an element contained in the raw material substrate is formed to give the whisker formed body. The whisker has an average diameter of 2 nm-100μm and an average length of 20 nm-1,000μm and contains an oxide composing element such as manganese, aluminum, chromium, indium, silver, gallium, tin, copper, scandium, germanium, and zinc. The whisker formed body is manufactured by heat-treating a raw material substrate containing a metal, an alloy, a ceramic, and the like in an inert gas atmosphere in the presence of a minute amount of oxygen to form a whisker.
