PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spit roaster simply attaching a spit stuck into a roast object to a carrier means or easily detaching it from the carrier means, preventing the spit and a spit retaining body from getting a high temperature in that case, and preventing a user from getting burnt, even if the user touches the spit and the spit retaining body during work of attaching the spit to the carrier means or detaching it from the carrier means. SOLUTION: This spit roaster allows the roast object W stuck with the spit 2 to circulatingly run to a region of a heating means 3 by the carrier means 1 and roasts the roast object W by the heating means 3, the carrier means 1 is attached with a plurality of spit retaining bodies 9 at some interval apart from one another; the spit 2 is detachably attached to the spit retaining body 9, and the spit retaining body is provided with a cooling device B laid along the spit retaining body 9 in contact therewith.
