The mechanism has a gear device (3) with a housing arrangement for mounting a motor, a battery unit, a control circuit plate and a drive shaft. The drive shaft is connected with a wheel (61) of a golf trolley. A fastening device (4) has two parts, which are fastened at a base tube (62) of the trolley and on the shaft, respectively. A manually driven switch (5) and the plate are connected by a transmission line wire (54).
