<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method for a display device which can extend a dynamic range. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing method for the display device comprises: a step (S01) of receiving an image signal A; a step (S02) of discriminating the maximum luminance of the image signal A; a step (S03) of obtaining a gain value; a step (S04) of obtaining the gain image signal A' by multiplying the image signal A by a gain value; a step (S05) of outputting a control signal for controlling the luminance of the ray emitted by a light source so as to attain 1/gain value of the luminance of the original ray; and a step (S06) of forming an image by outputting the gain image signal A' and the light source after the adjustment to an image display unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
