<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine translation device capable of enlarging the range of a translatable sentence. <P>SOLUTION: The machine translation system 32 is a machine translation system for translating an input sentence 30, and includes a corpus 46 formed of translatable sentences and a first machine translation device 42 for translating the input sentence. The machine translation device outputs an index of quality of the translation. The machine translation system 32 further includes a similar sentence retrieval section 48 for retrieving a sentence similar to the input sentence 30 from the corpus 46 when the quality is low, and a second machine translation device 50 for translating the sentence retrieved by the similar sentence retrieval section 48. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
