摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for more accurately determining deterioration of a catalyst in an upstream side from an EGR cooler even when a passage bypassing the EGR cooler is provided, in an exhaust gas recirculation device for an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust gas recirculation device for the internal combustion engine is provided with the EGR detour 16 bypassing the EGR cooler 17, a catalyst 15 before the cooler in an intake system side from the EGR cooler 17, and an EGR gas temperature sensor 20 in an exhaust system side from the EGR detour 16. In the case where temperature detected by the EGR gas temperature sensor 20 when EGR gas is made to flow into the EGR detour 16 is lower than predetermined temperature, the catalyst 15 before the cooler is determined to be deteriorated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
