PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyimide film, which realizes a high degree of freedom for a production plan and is based on a specific method for storing a green film of polyamic acid that is a polyimide film precursor. SOLUTION: A polyimide precursor film is stored together with an inert gas in a sealed packaging vessel or preferably in a sealed packaging bag, so as to avoid degeneration of the film. The packaging vessel comprises a substrate having oxygen permeability of 100 mL/m<SP>2</SP>×day×MPa or less and water vapor permeability of 10 g/m<SP>2</SP>×day or less.The packaging bag comprises a film having good gas barrier property. Thus, a production process for the film precursor is separated from an imidization process, making it possible to provide a production plan with a high degree of freedom.
