PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a channel selection method for associating a channel shown in an area code with a channel key so that a number appended to the channel key matches with a number assigned to the channel, and associating a channel not shown in the area code with a vacant channel key. SOLUTION: At first, all of channel numbers currently assigned to channels having electric field strength equal to or larger than a predetermined strength are stored in memory locations A (1) to A (M). Next, as for channels of which the channel numbers are stored in the memory locations A (1) to A (M), a channel having a channel number shown in an area code is associated with each channel key according to the area code.
