COLLECTING PREFERENCE INFORMATION

A method, a user equipment (1-1), a system (1), a software application (1-11), and a server (1-4) are provided for collecting preference information on consumption of digital content (1-5). A ratings data file usable at least by two different presentation applications (1-13) is maintained. In response to receiving user input to the presentation application, a preference client (1-11) collects information on the user input into a ratings data file in a presentation application independent format (2). A preference server (1-4) receives rating information from user equipment in a presentation application independent format and processes it into a database (1-44).
