PON SYSTEM TELEPHONE ACCOMMODATING PORT TESTING METHOD AND PON SYSTEM

A PON system for providing a telephone service, wherein a subscriber apparatus (1) accommodating one or more subscriber telephone terminals is connected, via transmission medium, to a station apparatus (2) accommodating one or more subscriber apparatuses (1) and connected to a telephone exchange, and wherein data transmissions/receptions are performed by frames. When a normality test of a telephone accommodating port possessed by a subscriber apparatus (1) is performed in response to a command from the telephone exchange, an OMCI (12), which is a monitor/control interface on PON interface, is used to command a test commencement and send a test result report. In this way, the subscriber apparatus (1) requires no devices for transforming the command of test commencement and the test result report into interpretable forms. That is, the conventionally required hardware of SSSAR/SSTED can be removed, with the result that the cost can be reduced.
