NUCLEIC ACID MOLECULES WITH NOVEL CHEMICAL COMPOSITIONS CAPABLE OF MODULATING GENE EXPRESSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel nucleic acid molecule useful for modulation of gene expression.

SOLUTION: Disclosed is a chemically synthesized double-stranded nucleic acid molecule comprising (a) a nucleotide sequence comprising 14-24 nucleotides complementary to a nucleotide sequence of a target RNA or its part; (b) 5'-cap, 3'-cap or both 5'-cap and 3'-cap on the either strand of the double-stranded nucleic acid molecule; and (c) a mixture of a modified nucleotide and unmodified nucleotide, wherein the modified nucleotide is 2'-fluoro, 2'-O-methyl and 2'H or combination of these and the unmodified nucleotide is a ribonucleotide.
